How can we get to the clown-state in the most direct way possible? This course will use radically simple exercises to help you experience clown at an honest, immediate and gut level. It is suited both to those with no previous experience and to those who are looking to focus on the essentials of their clowning.
Jon Davison has more than two decades of experience as a clown and clown teacher, and helped found the Escola de Clown. He is now leading the International Clown Research Project at CSSD (London University), investigating new methods in clown teaching. His last show, “Jontxu...to be” (2008), was pure improvisation based on techniques of clown presence.
Workshop: Devising Clown: 1001 ways to create clown numbers

Have you begun to discover clown and want to start making your own material? Have you been working on numbers for a while, but would like to improve your creative process? Do you want to create clown material that works, for you and your audience? Do you want to perform rehearsed numbers without losing the freshness of clown?
If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, then this is a course for you. We will look at “1001 ways” to devise gags and numbers. As sources of inspiration we shall draw not only on your own clown but also on the knowledge of gag construction that we have inherited from past and present masters of clowning.
By the end of this workshop everyone should have enough material to be able to continue working on their own clown numbers.
Jon Davison has more than two decades of experience as a clown and clown teacher, and helped found the Escola de Clown. This year he is working on a new show, “The Encyclopaedia of Clowning”, a demonstration of clown dramaturgy.

Clown groei-jaar met Marjolein Baars
Thema: ‘Loslaten, springen, richting geven ‘
In welke volgorde bewegen zich deze elementen en hoe beïnvloeden ze elkaar?
Vanuit het wezen clown gaan we aan de slag
Al spelend ervaren we.
Wat is de verbinding tussen ons spel en onszelf, dat wat we doen en elkaar?
Hoe werkt het door in het sociale?
Tegelijk kijken we ook naar menskundige principes die hiermee samenhangen. We nemen patronen en richtingen waar; we onderzoeken krachten die in ons werken ,die anderen raken of zich verschuilen.
Groei en bewustzijn…en plezier voorop
Dit groei-jaar is voor iedereen toegankelijk. We beogen een gevarieerde groep samen te stellen. Tot 1 september worden er 8 plaatsen voorbehouden voor mensen die in het beroep staan of al ervaring hebben met clownswerk .
Er zijn 6 gemeenschappelijke werkmomenten tussen okt en juni. In de tussenperiodes kunnen we thuis of in ons werkveld aan de slag met de verworven inzichten en opdrachten.
Wat vragen we van jou?
Zin, zelfstandigheid in het werk, (innerlijke) bewegelijkheid, bereidheid om aan de slag te gaan en het onderzochte in werk of leven toe te passen.
Marjolein Baars
Houdt zich in vele vormen bezig met de relatie tussen mens en drama, theater en dagelijks leven, clown en het hier en nu en vice versa. Een verbinding leggen tussen kunst , onderzoek en wetenschap hebben haar warme en intense belangstelling. Hierin staat de mens als creatief of scheppend wezen centraal
Is sinds 1986 werkzaam als theatermaakster, regisseur,clown en docent.
Specialiseerde zich in de Michael Tsjechov acteertechniek
Stichtte in 1999 haar eigen bedrijf en clown-school
Geeft workshops en voorstellingen in verschillende landen
Volgde de Leergang Menskundig adviseur en studeerde in 2003 af aan de Human Development Counseling Foundation, waar ze van 2003-2007 docent drama en 2006-200 manager Onderzoek en Ontwikkeling was.
Rondde in 2005 de opleiding Kunst in de Samenleving af, aan de Amsterdamse Hogeschool der Kunsten
